Gandhi Jayanti in our country, only 3 special days are declared as national festival, these are independence day on 15 August, republic day on 26 jan & gandhi jayanti on 2nd october. 2nd october, the birth date of our national father "Mahatma Gandhi" is celebrated every year as national festival with lots of enthusiasm. mahatma gandhi, the father of nation is word famous personality as the symbol of truth, peace, non-violence & simplicity. mahatma means 'great soul'. his full name was mohan das karam chand gandhi, who was born in small city of gujrat, porbandar on 2nd october, 1869. we, the citizen of india, remember our bapu by singing his all time favourite devotional song "Raghu pati Raghav raja ram". it is celebrated as the national holiday in order to pay honor to the father of antion. at this day, goverment offices, banks, schools, colleges, companies etc. all through the india remain closed. he was a patriotic leader who started the non-violence movement for the independence of india from british rule. 
we can never forget his struggle & hard workds made to make our country free from british rule. he was always in the favour of social equality however against untouchability. his significan role in the achievement of independence of india is unforgettable.
